Reason for choosing this sport | "I like speed skating because it is very similar to roller skating, the sport I have been practising since a young age. My mother practised figure skating and my dad did rink hockey. My grandmother was a cashier at a roller skating venue in Gujan-Mestras. I became immersed into the world of skating from an early age. What I liked about speed skating is the sporting adventure, very different from my personal and structured cocoon that I have been living since my childhood, which meant getting out of my comfort zone, and especially finding another taste of training without leaving my passion for roller skating."
When and where did you begin this sport? | He began roller skating at age five in Gujan-Mestras, France. He took up speed skating in 2017 at the Thialf arena in Heerenveen, Netherlands.
Training Regime | He includes road skating and short track skating in his training. "Road skating is complementary to speed skating. Especially in terms of balance. I also do short track training in Font-Romeu [France], doing lots of turns to work on my posture and trajectory." |

Other information | OCCUPATION He has worked for his family's painting and decorating business in Gujan-Mestras, France. "I am a house painter. I'm lucky to have my parents as my boss. It allows me to reconcile work and sport. It does not mean that I have an easy life either. It may even be a little harder. My father has the roles of both father and boss. I train, I go to work, then I train again." (rollerenligne.com, 27 Jun 2019; ouest-france.fr, 19 Nov 2020) |
