Team Pursuit 8 Laps | 1 | 1 |
Other sports | He has competed in short track at junior national level. He also competed in cycling at junior regional level. (haydenmayeur.ca, 24 Nov 2019) |
Reason for choosing this sport | He joined the Learn To Speed Skate programme to start with short track. He then switched to long track speed skating to better use his strength. "With an endurance as high as mine, I did not feel my strengths were properly being taken advantage of in short track. My regular performances in practice as well as in the fitness testing lab were not translating into race results. I decided to make the jump to long track." |
Ambitions | To compete at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan-Cortina. (ontariospeedskating.ca, 25 Nov 2022) |
Name of coach | Bart Schouten [national], NED | |
When and where did you begin this sport? | He took up speed skating in 2012 in Toronto, ON, Canada. He switched from short track to long track in 2016. |

Training Regime | He trains up to seven hours a day, five days a week. |
Other information | OTHER ACTIVITIES In 2023 he founded a charity event called Skate4Kids, which held its first event at the Calgary Olympic Oval in Canada. "To give you a bit of a background as to how I got here, I landed back in Calgary in March [2023] following my most successful season to date. It was all fantastic until I found myself falling into a bit of a hole mentally in the off-season. Through working closely with a couple of our team's sports psychs, I went over a number of my personal values and found that giving back to the community that inspires me to be the best I can be while wearing the maple leaf on my chest is something I care about deeply. This event has been a thought on my mind for a number of years now, but I decided it was time to finally take the next steps towards making it a reality." "Being a national team speed skater, I don't have time to sit on the side of the street and wait for people to come and get coffee. I'm in full control of the hours of operation of the truck, and it allows me to work when I can work."
