In 2023 she competed in athletics at national level in the Netherlands when she participated in the women's 400m at the Golden Spike event in Leiden. "From April to October, speed skaters are looking for their own things to enjoy. I wanted to have a competitive incentive during this period. A cycling race or a roller skating race doesn't really appeal to me. I consider this challenge to be excellent training. In terms of time it may seem like a skating distance of between 500m and 1000m, but otherwise it will be a completely new experience." (schaatsen.nl, 09 Jun 2023; worldathletics.org, 10 Jun 2023)
