Although many Dutch speed skaters do cycling as part of their training, she wished to compete in the sport at an elite level. "Anyone can cycle for three hours, but taking part in races I see more of a challenge. I like it, but it's also scary. A lot of girls fall and get hurt." (ad.nl, 14 Jun 2018)
