Reason for choosing this sport"I had a friend who was into short track and he invited me to the rink to watch him train. Straight away, I thought it was an amazing sport. I gave it a go and I was instantly hooked, I just loved it. I didn't do any other sports after that, I just wanted to get better at racing."

He tested positive for COVID-19 after arriving at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing and had to stay in isolation for three days. He was still able to compete but he did not perform as well as he had hoped, with his highest ranking in his individual events a 20th-placed finish in the 500m. "The Games were like being in hell for me. From start to finish, I didn't enjoy them at all. I tried to find some solutions without really finding them. It's hard. It was not what I came for. I came to compete against those guys and now I had to struggle with myself, the ice, the blades. I don't have any explanation. I'm not even tired. It's tough."
