Other information | FROM SHORT TRACK TO ROLLER SKATING He decided to try roller speed skating in 2021 as he felt the sport's potential was growing in prominence, and in 2023 was selected as part of Singapore's first ever delegation of roller speed skating athletes to compete at an Asian Games. The team lacks a designated training venue, and trains at a variety of venues including community centres and car park rooftops. "We don't have a banked track here [in Singapore], so we have to spend more funds to go overseas to experience what an actual competition venue looks and feels like. Hopefully, our qualification for the Asian Games will be a good start and people will see the prospects of the sport's growth." (straitstimes.com, 26 Feb 2023) OTHER ROLES In April 2021 he was appointed as head of the inline speed skating discipline at the Singapore Rollersports Federation on a two-year term. (Facebook page, 08 Sep 2021; Athlete, 09 Dec 2015, 09 Dec 2012) CLUB FOUNDER In 2012 he founded Swift Skating Academy in Singapore, where he has also served as head coach. "I've gotten myself involved in coaching as well, and it is a very big part of me right now [speaking in 2020] because I help to develop the younger generations into the sport."
