Other informationSHORT TRACK TO SPEED SKATING
He competed in short track before switching to speed skating in 2015. He says he began to specialise in the mass start because of his background in short track. "I'm enjoying long track [speaking in 2020], I feel at home at it. But I miss short track. I love racing. It's a different mentality. Short trackers go with the flow. There's so much luck involved. Things can go well and then something happens you have no control over. In long track when you fail, it's usually your fault. They are two very different worlds. I identify a lot with short track, which is why I've found a home in mass start." (teamusa.org, 27 Sep 2021; stltoday.com, 29 Dec 2020; Athlete, 16 Nov 2019)
