In March 2020 she announced her retirement from competitive short track due to a heart defect. She had undergone heart surgery in 2014, having been born with supraventricular tachycardias. The condition would make her heart beat much faster than normal, and affected her training and development as an athlete. "Of course I would prefer to keep competing in short track, but it just doesn't work for me anymore. I am terribly disappointed because my Olympic dream has fallen apart."
