She switched to speed skating in 2018 having missed out on selection for the Chinese short track team ahead of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. |
Other information | SWITCHING SPORTS She was disappointed to miss out on selection for the Chinese short track team ahead of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, and took some time away from the sport to travel to Indonesia and Malaysia. Watching the 2018 Olympic Winter Games from her hotel room, she was inspired to switch to speed skating by the success of Korean skater Lee Seung-Hoon and Dutch skater Jorien ter Mors, who both have backgrounds in short track and went on to claim gold medals in speed skating in Pyeongchang.
