Reason for choosing this sport	He had six brothers who all skated, so they encouraged him to try the sport. He was also inspired after watching the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano.
When and where did you begin this sport?	He was involved in figure skating and skeelering [a form of inline skating] as a child. He began speed skating at age 23.

Injuries	He sustained a groin injury during the 500m at the 2021 Dutch National Single Distances Championships and was ruled out of the rest of the tournament.
