Other information | PYEONGCHANG QUALIFICATION In October 2017 she earned qualification for the team pursuit at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. However, in January 2018 she was informed she would be unable to compete at the Games because she had not qualified for an individual event. The Korea Skating Union [KSU] blamed an administrative oversight for the issue, but she went on to secure a berth for the 1500m following the withdrawal of two Russian athletes. Despite reservations about racing in Pyeongchang, she decided to compete following discussions with her coaches and an apology from KSU president Kim Sang-Hang. "After much thought, I had decided to wrap up my career in the national team without regret. I'll do my utmost to achieve good results. During an extremely difficult and hard week following my departure, the opportunity came like a miracle. I chose to join the Olympics thanks to many people who encouraged me."
